| Entry
regulations The entry visa for the Yemen may
be easily obtained from the Yemeni embassy or consulates in the visitors home
country. The passports validity should be six months after leaving the country. You
must not have a visa from Israel in your passport.
Climate
The climate in Yemen varies depending on the different altitudes
of the regions. There are no distinct variations between the seasons. Generally, there are
two main seasons (summer and winter). During summer a hot climate with high humidity
dominates in the coastal region. In winter the climate in the coastal region is relatively
moderate. Occasional rain in the summer is caused by the monsoon coming from the Indian
Ocean. This rain leads to a decrease in the high temperatures in the coastal areas during
the summer. The weather in the mountain area is moderate in summer and relatively cold in
winter, especially during the night.
Time
Yemeni time is three hours ahead of GMT/UTC. No daylight savings
system is applied in summer.

Currency
The currency in the Yemen is the Rial. The Rial is available in
banknotes and coins. Every visitor may change the money at the bank or at official money
exchangers. Bring along cash. Credit cards and travellers cheques are accepted only
in major hotels.
Language
Arabic is the language spoken in Yemen. English is the most
important language used in tourism.
Important:
Alcohol: Although alcoholic drinks are prohibited in Yemen, every
guest may bring one liter of alcohol into the country. Alcoholic drinks are only served in
some major hotels, such as the Sheraton Hotel (Sanaa) or Aden Moevenpick.
Clothing
Because of the mild and warm climate, we recommend light, loose
cotton clothes. Men and women should cover their upper arms and legs. Furthermore,
everyone needs solid footwear and headcover because Yemen is a mountainous country. In the
winter months the mountains are relatively cold during the night and in the early morning. |
