| Hostels (Funduqs) |
All places for
accommodation - from budget to five star hotel - are called Funduq or Funduk in
Arabic. Specially in the countryside of Yemen, you may find
hostels or rest houses with simple and clean sleeping places. Only sleeping bags should be
provided by the travelers themselves.
This so-called funduqs by foreign travel
guides are local houses with rooms equipped with mattresses and shared WC/Shower on each
floor. The cuisine is very good.
You will find them mostly in the mountain
area of Yemen. Therefore the locations are good starting points for trekking tours.
